I have always been an active person. In school, I loved the school athletics carnival, yep I was one of those kids. But, I hated the swimming carnivals, I am not a confident swimmer and I am scared to dive into water. A teacher in high school made me enter a race once and let’s just say I had to be rescued, funny now not so funny back then. I loved running cross country and did well at it, played all sorts of sports and rode horses competitively.
When I was 19, I had a serious car accident which resulted in a back injury. Fortunately, my injury wasn’t serious but serious enough that I was unable to ride horses anymore and continue with other sports. It took me almost 12 months to recover and it’s been something I have had to manage every day since.
Ever since that accident every night before bed I have said a prayer of gratitude and asked for continued good health for myself and that of my boys, for us all to be strong, to support and continue the love we have for each other. I have learnt over the years just how resilient, beautiful and incredible our bodies truly are. The fact that I’ve been through 4 pregnancies, had delivered healthy babies, able to go to the gym, get in the backyard and play with my boys and share my life’s purpose is beyond amazing. Every day my body allows me to do all these things and more. I feel the least I can do is celebrate, love, appreciate and nourish it the best way possible.
I believe this path I am currently on has always been one the divine universe has very patiently waited for me to finally follow, its’ taken me a while to connect all the dots. Honestly, it has been at times a difficult journey especially when it comes to dealing with my family’s health.
You see it’s not just been my health and desire to learn more about it, it’s been my boy’s health too. So, in my family of 6 I have 4 with Coeliac, 2 Type 1 Insulin Dependent Diabetics, and 1 (recently diagnosed) with Ankylosing Spondylitis. If this is not a big hint from the universe that I needed to be not only continue helping my family but helping to inspire others about the importance of health and that of your family’s I don’t know what is.
It’s a good thing I like a challenge, love wellness and I have always known it’s not all about the food either. Having finally connected all the dots (the divine universe is sitting back in her chair wiping her brow saying finally we got there) and going through my own personal journey of self- discovery I went on to extend my knowledge further. I gained my personal training qualifications, Certificate in Nutrition and Diet, my life coaching certification with Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy and I am currently studying with Integrative Nutrition School.
Health is not one size fits all we are all unique and so are our family’s, what works for me and my family doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you and your family. Health is not only about the food we eat, it’s a combination of all the beautiful elements that when they are working in synergy you become the best version of you.
I completely understand how hard it is to raise a healthy happy family, there is so much confusion when it comes to being healthy, add some health complications into the mix and boy it can be overwhelming. I can assure you that it can be done, and that family and food go together like raspberry and chocolate. A partnership that creates a delicious synergy of connection, health, happiness, fun, and love.
My desire is to help and inspire you to celebrate your health, to make it way less complicated, to learn and listen to your body, for you to love your body and celebrate it. Think about it, how exciting is it not only can you design a life you love, you can design your health too. Now, that is something to celebrate.
My health will always be my priority, I would not be able to look after my family and be the best version of myself if I didn’t. Let’s start celebrating ourselves inside and out.
Celebrate you inside and out.
