Your Heart Song

I feel following our heart is like composing our very own heart song.  When we start following our heart and listen to its notes, we begin to live our lives in time to its beat creating a beautiful heart song; a masterpiece that is you.

Our heart talks to us every day gently persuading us to listen. We know it’s there, yet sometimes we push it aside and try to ignore it.  I know from my experience the more you resist the more unsettled you become. Everything in life becomes harder, you lose focus, you lack energy, you become disconnected with yourself, with life.

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray
— Rumi

When we follow our heart we listen and take action to that inner voice, the little niggles that keeps popping up. I believe following our heart is essential for us to live our lives full of love, gratitude, kindness and happiness. It inspires us to embrace our unique gifts, explore our creativity, live well and ultimately discover our passions and life’s purpose. We are able to confidently celebrate who we are.

Listening to our heart opens us up to a whole new world of glorious possibilities and dreams. We start to ask ourselves, what do I want my life to look like?

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart
— Helen Keller.

I totally get it, sometimes it is easier to listen to your head as oppose to your heart because listening to your head is more logical, less scary and the safest option. When you follow your heart, it doesn’t always make sense at the time, it requires you to step up and out of your comfort zone, face your fears and extend yourself.

Listening to your heart doesn’t mean you have to make drastic changes straight away, like quitting your job, moving to another state or country.  This could potentially be an option for you down the track. Starting with the ever so beautiful ( and let’s face it slightly less scary) baby steps towards the path our heart is telling us to go is I believe the best option. It’s what I did and it’s working. For me,  I started to write down what I would love to do,  how I wanted to feel, along with ideas that would just randomly pop into my head. From there, I broke them down into smaller baby steps, I researched those ideas, constantly paying attention to my heart. I soon had a list that I felt excited about and made my heart sing a little.

Wherever you go, go with all your heart
— Confucius

For a long time, my heart was continually trying to tell me to explore and pursue my little dream of Tulips and Tuxedos.  I think my heart let out a huge sigh of relief and had a little party when I finally decided to listen and begin this journey. I feel so energised, excited and empowered. I am celebrating me and embracing my unique gifts ( the wild, weird and the wonderful parts), I am exploring my creativity, l am accepting and facing the challenges that have come along the way.  I have had a number of listen and follow your heart moments throughout my life so far but Tulips and Tuxedos without a doubt is one of my biggest so far.

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye
— Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

Your hearts job isn’t just keeping you alive, it is ultimately the centre of who you are. Please, take a moment to listen and acknowledge it. The path your heart is leading you towards will not always be easy, in tune or beautiful straight away;  there will be bumps, missed notes along the way, that is the beauty of the journey. And boy, what a journey it is!!!!!

Listen and celebrate your Heart Song
